New London swims over Marinette

Bulldogs lose to Chilton, Sturgeon Bay

The New London girls’ swim team enjoyed a 110-60 victory in a Bay Conference showdown with the Marinette Marines on Thursday, Oct. 8.

New London clinched the meet when they swept the points in the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Sarah Vigil and Josie Ruckdashel had outstanding performances in the 400 freestyle relay.

“As the midpoint of the season has come and gone, the girls are hitting their stride,” coach John Ruckdashel said. “The meets have been very competive with the Bulldogs showing improvement every week.”

New London vs. Chilton
NEW LONDON – New London squared off against Valders-Chilton-Brillion for a nonconference contest on Oct. 6. Senior swimmers Ellen Steckbauer, Lilli Gould, Tanna Spencer, Brianne Hidde, and Tori Sarcheski were recognized for their service to the swimming program.

“Without seniors to help guide the underclassmen, having a quality program would be impossible,” John Ruckdashel said.
Chilton ultimately defeated New London 115-55.

“The girls did swim really hard. They did give it their all. It was just a matter of Chilton had a lot of depth,” coach Stacy Ruckdashel said.

New London vs. Sturgeon Bay
NEW LONDON – In a Bay Conference showdown on Oct. 1, many New London athletes swam personal bests, but the Sturgeon Bay Clippers overwhelmed the Bulldogs for a 110-56 victory.

“The effort was fantastic, and the young group of girls for New London are learning every swim, and the future is looking good,” John Ruckdashel said.

Upcoming meets for the Bulldogs swimmers are the Sprint meet at Shawano on Thursday, Oct. 22, and the Bay Conference Championships on Oct. 29.
