I-S netters lose to Bonduel, Manawa and Amherst

Bonduel, Manawa and Amherst picked up wins over the Iola-Scandinavia volleyball team Oct. 10 at Central Wisconsin-8 Conference pool play in Amherst.

Meanwhile, the Thunderbirds dropped a CWC-8 match Oct. 6 to Pacelli.

AMHERST – I-S fell to Bonduel (19-25, 25-14, 23-25); Manawa (20-25, 23-25); and Amherst (19-25, 25-11, 18-25).

Baleigh Fuhs had three ace serves against Bonduel, while Kaylin Ellioff had one solo block and two assists and Elise Erdmann added two block assists.

Fuhs served up six aces against Amherst, while Emily Kroseberg and Ellioff added seven kills; McKenna Prahl finished with six kills; and Kroseberg and Kendall Johnson led the team in assists with 14 and 13, respectively.

“Again, we’re playing good volleyball, but can’t sustain our momentum enough to pull off wins,” coach Jessica Wennesberg said.

STEVENS POINT – The T-Birds won the first set 25-20, but lost the next three, 25-20, 25-13, 25-20.

Ellioff led the team with 14 kills, while Micalea Jobke added nine. Johnson also had a team-high 15 assists.

I-S will open WIAA state tournament play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, with a Division 3 regional quarterfinal. The opponent and location will be posted on www.twitter.com/copostsports.
