WLC hosts Turkey Trot

The annual Turkey Trot will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.

Walkers and runners will start the Turkey Trot behind Waupaca Learning Center and travel on the River Ridge Trail to Riverside Park, before going on the sidewalk along Royalton Street, past the Waupaca County Courthouse, onto Harding Street and then back to the school.

The free event is open to the community, and registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. on the day of the Turkey Trot.

People may register on that day.

Before they begin running or walking, participants will predict their time.

No timing devices will be allowed during the event.

The team or individual best predicting how long it takes to travel the 1.2-mile course wins a Thanksgiving turkey.

Cranberries, stuffing, potatoes, squash, pumpkin pies and rolls will also be given away.

There will be two divisions for the Turkey Trot – WLC families and a community division.

Sponsored by WLC, the prizes sponsors are Turner’s Fresh Market, Kissinger Farm, Yeska Brothers Farm and Mama Z’z Bakery & Java Hut.
