Season ends for Polar Bears

Hortonville loses to Menasha

By Scott Bellile

The Hortonville Polar Bears ended their season with a 4-5 record after losing 38-15 to the Menasha Bluejays in the Division 2 playoff game on Friday, Oct. 23.

The victory over No. 7 seed Hortonville at Calder Field means No. 2 seed Menasha will play No. 3 seed Chippewa Falls in the second week of playoffs. That game will take place at Calder Field in Menasha on Friday, Oct. 30.

The Bluejays started the game with a 95-yard touchdown run and scored a second touchdown and a punt to end the first quarter 17-0.

Two Hortonville touchdowns in the second half couldn’t usher a Polar Bears comeback, and the Bluejays produced an extra three touchdowns to seal the win.

The Menasha Bluejays were the 2014 Division 2 State Champions.
