Polar Bears power on to sectionals

Hortonville netters win regional title

Student-made signs in the Hortonville fan section declared the Polar Bears aren’t afraid of ghosts.

It showed, as the Hortonville volleyball team warded off the Kaukauna Ghosts on Saturday, Oct. 24 to land the regional title.

Hortonville, a No. 2 seed, came off a bye to win 3-1 in Saturday’s regional final against No. 7 seed Kaukauna. The game went into four sets, with the Polar Bears winning 25-21 and 25-17, then losing 20-25 before rebounding with a 25-19 victory.

Now the Polar Bears will take on No. 3 seed Appleton East at Kaukauna on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. at Kaukauna.

Appleton East comes off of a close Saturday win against Bay Port. They posted set scores of 28-26, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-21.

Hortonville vs. Kaukauna (win): 25-21, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19.
