Mayor, alderpersons up for re-election

CO-ballotboxThe two-year terms of Mayor Brian Smith and five Waupaca Common Council members are for up for re-election next spring.

The alderpersons up for re-election are David Peterson in the 1st Aldermanic District, Eric Olson in the 2nd Aldermanic District, Paul Mayou in the 3rd Aldermanic District, Lori Chesnut in the fourth aldermanic district and Alan Kjelland in the 5th Aldermanic District.

Those who want to be candidates for the April 5 election may begin circulating nomination papers on Monday, Dec. 1.

The papers may already be obtained at the deputy city clerk’s office, located at 111 S. Main St., in city hall.

The office is open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

It is closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and 27 and for Christmas on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24 and 25.
Aldermanic district boundary maps are also available in the clerk’s office.

Candidates for mayor need at least 50 signatures and no more than 100 signatures citywide.

Candidates for alderpersons need at least 20 signatures and no more than 40 signatures from within their aldermanic district.

Nomination papers have to be filed at the clerk’s office by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5.
