Mildred Ardale Mathieson, 101, of Lake Wales, Florida went to be with her Lord on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at her residence, with family in attendance.
She was born on May 14, 1914 in Amherst, Wisconsin to the late Thurman and Nora Kjendalen. She and her late husband, Carl, moved to the Lake Wales, Florida area in 1995 from Scandinavia, Wisconsin. In high school, Mildred was Ladies Tennis Champion. After her marriage to Carl they lived in Appleton, Madison, Stevens Point and Fond du Lac, Wisconsin before retiring and moving back to Scandinavia. She was always very active in church activities, singing in choirs, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, participating in woman’s groups, managing charity rummage sales, and sewing for Lutheran World Relief. She handled office duties for Carl’s chiropractic practice until retirement when they moved to Scandinavia to care for her mother who passed away at the age of 104. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, and four brothers: Gerhardt, Emory, Norman, and George Kjen-dalen.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Gaiser of Lake Wales, FL and Ruth Parker of Plano, TX, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five cousins.
The memorial service will be held on Monday December 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Lake Wales Lutheran Church.
