Joan E. Smith of Waupaca, age 53, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at home.
She was born in Waupaca on February 27, 1962 to Budd and Hagara (Radloff) Smith. On August 9, 1987 she married Peter Johnson. Joan graduated from Waupaca High School; she then received her Associate Degree from Fox Valley Technical College. Joan went to Metro State for her undergraduate and attained her MBA from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri. Joan worked at AT&T Bell Labs in Denver. She enjoyed traveling and moved back to the Waupaca area in 2003.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Peter; parents, Budd and Hagara Smith of Waupaca; sisters: Diane (Don) Thiel of Neenah, Phyllis (Jerry) Luttropp of Berlin, Susan (John) Otterson of Waupaca, Betty Shanak of Waupaca; brothers, Ray (Pam) Smith of Waupaca and Tom (Tracy) Smith of Winchester. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger.
The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 4 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca. The visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
