Apartment burgled while tenant in jail

A Clintonville man told police that when he returned home from jail, he found some of his belongings were stolen.

He suspected a 30-year-old Clintonville woman because he found a letter she sent him had been moved.

Amber L. Barry is charged with burglary and misdemeanor theft.

On Tuesday, Dec. 1, Clintonville Police Officer Craig Kamke met with Lukus Gonzales, who said his apartment had been broken into some time between Nov. 27, when he had been arrested for battery, and three days later when he returned home.

Gonzales said $525 in cash, a bank card and a cellphone were missing, along with some clothes.

Kamke reported finding multiple kick marks and scratches on the door to the second-floor apartment, and pry marks on the door jam.

The following day, Gonzales recovered his clothes in a white plastic trash bag.

According to the criminal complaint, Barry denied taking anything from Gonzales’ apartment other than her own and her children’s clothing. She also said she had a key to the apartment and that Gonzales’ clothes and cellphone had been left at her parents’ house.
