The former Michelle Dawn La Rue was born on March 31, 1969 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Don and Margaret (Brown) La Rue. She was raised in Enid, OK, and graduated from Enid High School in 1987. Michelle attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater for some time. By 1990 she entered the U.S. Navy and served until 1996. While in the military she met Paul Van Laarhoven and the couple was married in 1993 in Glen Burnie, MD. After the service, they settled in Clintonville and had three children together. In 1999 Michelle was united in marriage to Daniel Arneson in Clintonville and she was blessed with three more children. In the late 1990s she started Wee Bee Childcare out of her home and took care of countless children over her 16 years. For the past year or so she also co-owned and operated MR’s Catering and Event Planning along with an old friend from Oklahoma. Michelle was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post, VFW Post, and the Historical Society, all in Clintonville. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens; and cooking and baking for lots of family parties. Michelle loved children and caring for others; and spending time with her family. The most important thing in Michelle’s life was always her six children. She will be remembered most for her wonderful sense of humor and her beautiful smile.

Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Dan; her mother, Margaret La Rue of Clintonville; and six children, Gavyn (friend Amanda Bradle) Van Laarhoven of Seymour; Gabriella (friend Christian Stogsdill) Van Laarhoven of Dyess AFB, Abilene, TX; and Kelvyn Van Laarhoven of Houghton, MI; and MyKenzie, Danielle, and Trace Arneson, all of Clintonville. There is one granddaughter, Mira Schroepfer; one sister, Debra (Paul) Schmidt of Broken Arrow, OK; a brother, Michael (Maureen) La Rue of Canterbury, NH, and a friend, Randy Wedel. She is further survived by a large extended family, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Michelle is preceded in death by her father, Don, and infant twin sisters.
