Gregory H. Meyer, age 88, of New London died on January 1, 2016 at Theda Care New London Hospital.
Greg was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 19, 1927, son of James and Loretta (Lohman) Meyer. In 1944, at the age of 17, Greg enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge, Greg married Rose Telich in September 1948. He worked as a brick layer mason his entire life. He enjoyed Wednesday’s at Lee’s, dancing, hunting, and fishing.
Greg is survived by his daughter, Ginny Meyer (Steve) Schultz; sons, Ray (Donna) Meyer, Bob (Bev) Meyer, Mark (Mary) Meyer, and Michael Meyer; grandchildren, Connie (Terry) Schultz Dunnihoo, Tina Schultz, Kyle (Jayme) Meyer, Cody (Kelly) Meyer, Joy (Bobby) Hussey, Josh Meyer, Sally Meyer, Katie (Kevin) Hermes, Karen Meyer and Shelly Meyer; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Brielle, and Madie. He is further survived by a brother-in-law, Joe (Florence) Telich; sisters-in-law, Doris Meyer, Kathy Lenich, and Jean Vasicek; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Greg is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose; brother, James Meyer; brother in-law, Frank Telich; and sisters-in-law, Mary Smreakar and Albina Sotich.
A funeral service for Greg was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2016 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London. Family and friends gathered at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Central Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery, King. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Wisconsin Veteran’s Honor Flight.
