Van Zummeren, Joseph E.

Joseph E. Van Zummeren, age 76, of Waupaca, WI passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016 at his residence.

Joe was born in Appleton on December 9, 1939, the son of the late Irv and Florence (Pleier) Van Zummeren. On July 15, 1961, Joe married Patricia Murphy in Appleton. He worked for over 35 years for the Red Owl Grocery Stores. He then worked for Badger Metals, Inc. in sales for 20 years, retiring in 2014. Joe was a US Army veteran and a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Waupaca.

Joe is survived by his wife, Patricia Van Zummeren, Waupaca; his children: Judy (Gary) Johnson, Onalaska, WI; Jeff (Joni) Van Zummeren, Medina, OH and Jim (Amy) Van Zummeren, Belle Plaine, MN; his six grandchildren: Morgan (Adam); Mallory; Jillian; Jonathan; Piper and Sam; his siblings: Dave (Joy) Van Zummeren, Sheboygan, WI; Alice (Terry) Grogan, Shawano, WI; Mary Lou (Dennis) Vice, Appleton, WI; Jim (Pat) Van Zummeren, Stafford, VA; Jeanne (Dan) Eggert, Alamagordo, NM; Margaret “Peg” (Charles) Monn, Gillette, WI; Irving (Maggi) Van Zummeren, Swansea, IL and also many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Waupaca with Father David Pleier, celebrant. Burial will follow in the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, Wisconsin. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca and also on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials greatly appreciated to the St. Mary Magdalene New Building Fund.
