‘Keep Kids Cozy’ in New London

Schools receive winter clothing donations

The newly formed Raise Up New London community service group donated $300 worth of warm winter gear to New London elementary schools as part of its “Keep Kids Cozy” campaign.

A need for warm clothing items was brought up by guidance counselor Jen Tate. When Melissa Sannes, Raise Up New London President, heard of this need, she brought the idea of donating money for these needed items. The group members agreed to support it and “Keep Kids Cozy” campaign was born.

“We have also set aside up to $300 in additional funds this year for requests that come in from the guidance counselors for other needed items,” Raise Up New London Treasurer Chad McCartney said.

The project aligns with the group’s mission “to ‘Raise Up’ New London through park development, recreational activities, and responding to the needs of youth and families.”

In the upcoming months, Raise Up New London looks forward to new and improved projects including Easter events and the possibility of a “Duck Drop” at the Fall Family Fest. To support the group’s mission, present ideas or join, contact [email protected] or meet at Familiar Grounds for a child-friendly meeting Jan. 10 at 11 a.m.
