Waupaca woman faces narcotics charges

Arrest made after traffic stop

Estell M. Masias, 46, Waupaca, is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of a prescription drug, possession of marijuana and misdemeanor bail jumping.

On the afternoon of Dec. 26, 2015, Waupaca Police Officer Nate Nelson was patrolling on U.S. Highway 10 when he saw Masias driving a westbound vehicle near the County Trunk A overpass.

Nelson knew a judge had ordered Masias not to operate a vehicle, because she had been charged for driving with a controlled substance. He made a traffic stop.

According to the criminal complaint, Nelson noticed an orange prescription pill container with the label partially torn off as he spoke with Masias.

While Nelson ran a records check from his squad car, he saw Masias moving around in her vehicle. He requested backup, and Officer Diana Flatoff arrived.

When the officers later searched the vehicle, they found the pills had been removed from the orange container and apparently placed in a pill organizer.

The officers reported finding 19 Oxycodone pills, 4 Celebrex pills, 1 Lyrica and three Zanaflex.
