Penny war for Mission of Hope

DHHS staff raise funds for community outreach

Waupaca County Department of Health and Human Services staff held a penny war and raised $1,065 to be given to the winning team’s charity of choice.

Various units on the second floor of the courthouse and Waupaca County Industries participated from Nov. 16-20, 2015.

An anonymous donor at the bank also donated to the contest while the money was being counted.

The Behavioral Health Services team won the contest. They selected the Mission of Hope House to receive the funds.

Mission of Hope House of Wisconsin offers temporary emergency and crisis housing for men, women and families.

The organization provides education and links to resources to help people develop self-sufficiency.

Mission of Hope is scheduled to hold outreach programs in three communities in 2016: Waupaca on April 30, Clintonville on May 7 and New London on Aug. 20.

During the outreach, guests will receive free haircuts, free groceries, free health services and free family portraits. They will also receive information on community services and educational opportunities.
