Ash scores twice for girls

The Waupaca Area girls’ hockey team picked up a 4-2 road win Jan. 16 over Lakeland.
Markie Ash scored twice and had an assist at the Lakeland Ice Center in Minocqua.
Avrey Simonson put Waupaca Area on the board in the first period with an unassisted goal and Ash added an unassisted goal of her own later in the period.
Asucena Boyer made it 2-1 with the only goal of the second period, but Ash came up with her second goal in the third period to give Waupaca Area a 3-1 lead.
Lakeland’s Lauren Godfrey cut the lead to 3-2, but Waupaca Area’s Anna Ryder found the net later in the game off of an assist from Ash to complete the scoring.
Waupaca Area outshot the Thunderbirds 25-11.
