Two injured in downtown Hortonville crash

By Scott Bellile

Two people were transported to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after a multi-vehicle accident in downtown Hortonville on Friday, Jan. 22.

Shortly after 12 p.m. on Friday, Hortonville Fire Department, Hortonville EMS and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to Main Street at Nash Street for a four-car pile-up.

Three vehicles had stopped for a pedestrian using a crosswalk when a fourth vehicle coming from behind failed to stop for the line of vehicles in front of it, Hortonville officer Sean Stephens said. The vehicle struck the vehicle third in line, creating a chain reaction where the second and first vehicles were struck from behind.

The two people taken to a hospital were inside the third vehicle in line, Stephens said. He was uncertain which hospital they were transported to. The pedestrian was not hurt.

Stephens did not release the names of the individuals involved. He said no citations were issued at the scene but there could be citations coming.
