It looks like the Iola-Scandinavia boys’ basketball team will make a run toward a possible Central Wisconsin-8 Conference championship.

Whether the Thunderbirds win the title remains to be seen, but they looked impressive Jan. 29 in a 76-43 win over Weyauwega-Fremont on the Indians’ home court.

The T-Birds connected on 11 three-pointers in the game and the first five helped the visitors take a 17-2 lead four minutes into the game.

The Indians eventually cut the lead to 25-15 on Alex Hulbert’s three, but never got any closer the rest of the way.

The T-Birds led 36-23 at halftime and put the game away with a 10-0 run to start the second half.

Kenny Holz led the T-Birds with 19 points, while Adam Cherek and Kristian Welch added 17 each and Zach Mortenson chipped in with 12. Dylan Pankow led the Indians with 11 points and Hulbert finished with nine.
