Truckers stall against competition

Clintonville grapplers lose two matches

Clintonville wrestlers are recovering from a tough week of competition as they take time off in preparation for the postseason in mid-February.

A forfeit was all the Clintonville/Marion Truckers were able to score off of at a North Eastern Conference dual against Oconto Falls on Thursday, Jan. 28. The Panthers, stacked with wrestlers in all but one weight class, defeated the Truckers 76-6.

Ben Cotherman recorded the team’s sole win off a forfeit in the 106-pound weight class. Cole Cotherman, Andrew Robinson, Tabitha Breitrick and Lacey Jung also competed.

As Clintonville has five wrestlers and Oconto Falls has nearly a full team, the Truckers would not have been able to win even if they won all five of their matches.

Two days later, the Truckers finished last of 17 teams at the Dick Sorenson Door County Classic on Saturday, Jan. 30,

Clintonville’s Cole Cotherman (126) put on a notable performance for the Truckers, going 2-2 to place fourth in his weight class and earn the team 11 points. Robinson and Jordan Streicher scored points for the Truckers as well.

Clintonville will next compete in the regional meet at Seymour on Saturday, Feb. 13.

If any individuals advance, they would compete in the individuals sectional in Oconto Falls on Saturday, Feb. 20.
