Oashger, Jeanette

Jeanette L. Oashger, 91, New London passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016.

She was born on May 20, 1924, Thornton, WI, daughter of Charles and Mabel (Raeder) Schweitzer. On November 2, 1940, she was united in marriage to James Oashger. He preceded her in death in 2015.

During WWII she worked at Rayovac Battery in Madison. She later worked at Appleton Wire Works as a technician for several years and then at Wisconsin Power (We Energies) for 25 years until her retirement. Her hobbies included traveling, visiting on the phone with friends around the country and growing a wide variety of flowers in her garden.

Jeanette is survived by her son, James (Ruth) Oashger, Cecil; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Christine (Brad) Davis and their children, Ryan and Ally and Carrie (Keith) Herek and their son, Casey. She is further survived by two sisters, Ruth Peterson and Ellen (Harlowe) Reinert; a sister-in-law, Sandy Schweitzer, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Lucille Strauss; two brothers, Harold and Franklin Schweitzer; brother-in-law, Leroy Peterson and a sister-in-law, Rita Schweitzer.

Funeral services for Jeanette will be held at 12 noon at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London on Saturday, February 20, 2016 with Rev. Leon Knitt officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be the New Maple Creek Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeanette’s sister, Ellen for her loving care and devotion, the staff at Home Instead Health and also the staff at Appleton Medical Center.
