Lifechanger of the Year

Teacher encourages support for Petermann

Recently an amazing educator in our community was nominated for a national award in recognition of her leadership and positive influence on our children. Karen Petermann has been nominated for the LifeChanger of the Year Award.

Petermann is truly a LifeChanger. Her door is always open, every single day, to students, parents and fellow teachers. She puts a positive spin on everything. She greets each child with a smile, asks about their day and listens to their response. She is always ready with a smile and hug.

As a volunteer, Petermann coaches Longfellow Running Club in our elementary school. No one else I know could motivate 60-plus children to come to school at 6:30 in the morning to run and train the way they do. If you ask the students why they do it, their answer will probably be because they love it. Petermann is the reason they love it.

Petermann teaches children about being part of something bigger than themselves. She teaches manners, how to encourage one another, and what to say to help someone out. She teaches them goal setting and the importance of being true to oneself. She teaches them compassion, and how to be “first class.”

She teaches nutrition, provides a healthy breakfast after running club, and teaches students that exercise gets their brains ready to learn. She reminds running club kids on every run that they are representing themselves, their school and their community and they make us all proud every time.

She needs our help to win the LifeChanger of the Year Award. Please visit her nomination page at https://lifechangeroftheyearnominees.com/karenpetermann-2/ and post a comment about how Petermann is changing lives. Maybe she has changed your life in some way, or the life of someone you know. Share your stories and a help bring this national award to Clintonville.
