Ralph E. Engelhardt, age 69 of the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away Sunday evening, March 6, 2016 at Shawano Health Services.
Ralph was born in Shawano on March 4, 1947 as the son of the late Ralph and Dorothy “Dotty” (Johnson) Engelhardt. At the age of 12 he moved with his family to San Diego, CA where he later graduated from Mission Bay High School in 1965. In 1966, Ralph went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He drove a supply truck for the Army and was injured in a truck accident. Ralph was discharged and returned home to San Diego in 1968 where he was united in marriage to Rhonda Jones on April 4, 1970. The couple had two sons and later divorced. Ralph was quite skilled as a finish carpenter. He was known to have worked on some pretty high profile jobs for certain celebrities while in San Diego. Upon his retirement in 2010, Ralph moved to the Town of Belle Plaine where he has resided since. He liked things with engines and always wanted them to go faster. He enjoyed socializing with friends, spending time on his pontoon boat, playing cards, watching NASCAR, and Budweiser beer. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their baseball games.
Survivors include: two sons, Josh (Cassy) Engelhardt, Clintonville and Justin (Sam Ozmant) Engelhardt, Clintonville; grandchildren: Jocelyn, Joshua “Bubba”, Kylie, and Maxx Engelhardt; a brother, Richard “Dick” (Vickie) Engelhardt, Escondido, CA; also numerous other relatives and friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents.
