Waupaca hosts Irish Wake

Annual event features music, poetry, pub crawl

The Waupaca Community Arts Board will present its 16th annual Irish Wake on Saturday, March 19, in downtown Waupaca.

It will begin at 7 p.m. at Little Fat Gretchen’s before heading to Weasel’s, Paca Pub and then ending at T-Dub’s Public House.

There will be poetry and readings at Little Fat Gretchen’s, as well as songs and the reading of the full honor roll.

Song books will be available.

People may email the names of loved ones who have passed to [email protected] to have them included in this year’s honor roll.

Those who attend will also be able to add a memory or thought to the coffin as a way to forgive or move on from something.

The family friendly pub crawl will arrive at Weasel’s around 8 p.m., at Paca Pub around 8:45 p.m. and then at T-Dub’s around 9:15 p.m.

A bagpiper will play at T-Dub’s as the Irish Wake enters there.

All are invited to put on their mourning clothes and walking shoes and to bring instruments to follow others on the route through downtown Waupaca.
