National Honor Society holds awards banquet

By Megan Fielding

New London High School’s National Honor Society inducted 29 new members at its 54th National Honor Society Banquet on March 7.

National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes students based on their scholarship, leadership, service and character.

During the 2015-16 academic year, National Honor Society students volunteered their time in school and community events such as New London Fall Family Fest, the regional Punt, Pass & Kick competition, New London Park & Recreation’s Haunted Trail and the Harvest Moon Festival and Holiday Make-It Take-It Craft Day at Mosquito Hill Nature Center. Also in December, several students volunteered to assist with kids’ games and cookie decorating at the Anna Roberts Benefit to help show support for Anna and her family.

Within the school, National Honor Society students volunteered as ushers for the fall musical, and in March, several of members were selected to host Bulldogs of Character presentations at the elementary schools.

NHS members will next help Raise Up New London with its annual Easter Event at Crystal Falls on March 26.
