Falk, Geraldine M.

Geraldine M. Falk, King, formerly of Waupaca, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016.

She was born on March 29, 1928 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Frank and Clara (Heicher) Garvey. After graduation from high school, she was employed as a long distance operator for Wisconsin Bell in Milwaukee. She married Russell Howard on October 2, 1948, and they later divorced. She then married Ernst Falk on May 26, 1956, and the family moved to Waupaca in 1960 where she was employed at Zwicker Knitting Mill. She very much enjoyed large family gatherings when her brothers, aunts and uncles would come “up north” from Milwaukee. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing, and also tending to a very large garden. Through the years, her beautiful hand knit or crocheted sweaters, caps, mittens-gloves, socks, booties and afghans were given to family and friends.

Gerry is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Howard Edmunds; her sons, Charles and Dennis Falk; six grandsons, Donald Edmunds, Jeremy Falk, and Clint, Alexander, Joseph and Waylon Falk. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Caroline Garvery, Robert and Shirley Garvey, and Donald and Lea Garvey; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as two special cousins, Joanne Kluessendorf and Jim Heicher, who frequently visited her at the Veterans Home. Her friend of over fifty years, Mary Ann Rasmussen, also survives her. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; her son-in-law, H. Donald Edmunds in 2012 and her half brother, Lawrence Heicher, also in 2012.

Funeral services will be held at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, MacArthur Hall Chapel in King, on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Sheridan Cemetery. The Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont, assisted the family with arrangements.

Gerry’s family would like to thank the staff of MacArthur Hall 3 for their compassionate care over the last eight years. Special thanks to Melissa and Stella, also Debbie, Jamie and Heather.
