Felony charges follow heroin overdose

Man on probation for drugs arrested for drugs

A Weyauwega man who was arrested and convicted after he overdosed on heroin in January 2014 was arrested and charged again after overdosing on heroin on March 18.

Steven A. Dupris, 24, is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

On April 16, 2014, Dupris was convicted of possession of narcotics and placed on two years of probation.

On March 18, Weyauwega Police Officer Matt Batte responded to an apartment on East Main Street, where Dupris reportedly overdosed on heroin and required medical treatment.

On March 19, Cpl. Adam Rogge and Officer Justin Malueg, with the Weyauwega Police Department, and Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Pat Gorchal conducted an Act 79 search of Dupris’ apartment. Under Wisconsin Act 79, police are allowed to search a person or his residence without a warrant if that person is on probation or under extended supervision.

Rogge reported finding heroin and marijuana in Dupris’ apartment.

He also reported finding more than 50 used syringes, including three syringes in a pair of shoes.
