Buchholtz, Ray

Ray Buchholtz of Waupaca, age 88, went to his heavenly home on March 29, 2016.

He was born on December 18, 1927 in the Town of Lind, Waupaca County. He is the son of the late William and Anna Buchholtz. Ray married Louise Nolte on August 26, 1972 at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, WI. Ray graduated from San Bernadino High School in CA. He has been self-employed most of his life. He was engaged in farming, commercial painting and remodeling houses. As a marine, Ray served his country from 1951-1959. He was in combat in the Korean War and received a purple heart. He was able to go on the Honor Flight for Veterans to Washington D.C. Ray loved music and enjoyed dancing and playing his accordion and harmonica. He used his creativity to design and build wooden lighthouses, arbors, Dutch windmills, wishing wells and fireplace mantels.

He is survived by his wife; a brother, Arden (Beverly) of Hartford, WI; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Arnie and five sisters, Ann, Adeline, Anita, Glennie and Milda.

The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Emmaus Lutheran Church, Town of Lind, where Ray has been a lifelong member. Pastor Kurt Schilling will officiate. The visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Lind Center Cemetery. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
