Wega man charged with felony OWI

Evan J. Evans, 54, Weyauwega, is charged with a fourth drunken driving offense, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 11:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, Wisconsin State Trooper Alex Trofin was on patrol in the town of Mukwa when he spotted a vehicle without working license plate lamps. He made a traffic stop.

According to the criminal complaint, when Evans opened his glove compartment to give the trooper his proof of insurance, Trofin noticed a small bottle of liquor. He also noticed an open beer can on the floor near the back seat.

Due to his three prior drunken driving convictions, Evans is limited to a .02 blood-alcohol content. A preliminary breath test indicated he had a .077 BAC.

Trofin also reported finding marijuana in Evans’ car.
