Manawa art team earns award

Little Wolf High School students win first place

Missing from photo is Sylvia Much.The Little Wolf High School Art Team recently earned a first place finish at the Visual Arts Classic (VAC), a high school art competition sponsored by the Wisconsin Art Education Association.

Seven high schools competed at the Stevens Point Region on March 18.

The Manawa team, coached by Nancy Zabler, won second in Critical Thinking, first in Quiz Bowl and first Overall, and will move on to State VAC competition in Madison on April 8.

Students also created individual artworks in a variety of artistic media, both a “long-term” and “on-site” piece, winning many individual first place awards.

Students placing first were Charley Gehrke, Megan Littleton, Jody Wentworth, Alexandria Rae, Brittany Besaw Brooke Schernecker, Lauren Mikkelson and Jemimah Swanson.

Students earning two firsts were Jared Zielke, Meghan Hetzel, Sebastain Mikkelson, Maquelle Moede and Jamie Buschke.
