Tickets available for car show concerts

By Jane Myhra

Advance tickets are available for the Iola Car Show concerts on Friday and Saturday, July 8-9.

“We have been receiving a lot of great response with regards to the first ever Iola Car Show Concerts announcements,” said ICS Public Relations and Marketing Director Joe Opperman. “There’s a lot of buzz brewing, and we’ve received overwhelmingly positive feedback.”

According to Opperman, the Iola Car Show is working with sponsor Muzzy Concerts on this event.

“Muzzy is a longtime friend of the show with decades of experience providing top quality concerts,” said Opperman. “His interests and values align well with ours, making him an ideal partner for such a significant addition to the event.”

The Friday night concerts will feature “A Night of Tribute,” starting at 5:30 p.m. with Resurrection performing “A Journey Tribute,” followed by On The Border presenting an “Ultimate Eagles Tribute.”

On Saturday, David Marks (an original Beach Boy) and the Surf City All Stars take the stage at 6 p.m. The closing show is Herman’s Hermits Starring Peter Noone.

“These acts were intentionally selected because of their recognizable and iconic music,” Opperman said. “We think they’re a perfect fit for the event and our crowd of enthusiasts.”

The concerts are designed to start at a reasonable time, be completed by 10 p.m. and cause minimal disruption to the rest of the show.

The concerts will be held in the ICS’s new Special Event Venue, in the northeast corner of the show grounds near Keatings Lake.
“The area was selected because the lake provides a scenic backdrop, and the land has a gentle slope that provides a bit of a natural amphitheater,” Opperman said. “The venue will be fenced off and have two gated entrances, one from outside the grounds and one from inside.”

Early bird tickets are on sale at iolaoldcarshow.com and at 979wspt.com. General admission and reserved seating tickets are available for each show.

General admission tickets allow patrons to bring a lawn chair and find a spot that suits them, while reserved seating allows for “front and center” seating on padded chairs that will be sectioned off.

There is also an option to save on car show day pass price by purchasing a general admission ticket with a car show pass.

Just like the Car Show, the concerts will offer free parking, with bus/shuttle services from parking lots and campground areas to the event venue. Concessions and beverages will be available in the venue area, with no carry-ins allowed.

As with all outdoor events, tickets are non-refundable.

“Early sales are going well, and all signs indicate this is going to be an awesome addition to the show,” Opperman said.
