Jensen, Donald P.

Donnie JensenDonald P. Jensen, age 69, of Scandinavia, finally succumbed to his long-time battle with various illnesses on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at ThedaCare Medical Center of Appleton, with family at his side.

He was born in Waupaca on October 20, 1946 to the late Carl and Clara (Johnson) Jensen and was united in marriage to Janice Clapps. Donnie was a member of Farmington Lutheran Church, where he had been baptized and confirmed. He worked at the Waupaca Foundry for 15 years, making many life-long friends. In 2015, he celebrated his gift of life, having received his kidney transplant 30 years prior and was a member of the National Kidney Foundation. Donnie belonged to the Scandinavia Booster Club for over 20 years, 15 of which he served as an officer. He served on the Scandinavia Library Board and was a member of the Friends of Jorgens Park. Donnie was active with the Iola Car Show for the past 10 years, mowing lots and lots of grass for the last three years. He was also an avid fan of the Waupaca Dance Team. Donnie and Janice enjoyed going out for burgers and pizza with their friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Janice of Scandinavia; daughter, Trisha Taber of Scandinavia; two grandchildren, Brooklyn and Quinten Rohloff; brother, David (Shirley) Jensen of Waupaca; two sisters, Elaine Peterson of Waupaca and Connie (Paul) Shellenberger of Green Bay; six nieces, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Farmington Lutheran Church, N4414 Cty Rd Q, Waupaca. Pastor Dale Wilson will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home and again on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the Sheridan Cemetery. “It’s the dash in between that counts.”
