Students excel at Tech Challenge

Pankow’s model steam engine wins Star First

Technology education students from high schools across Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula went head-to-head in live skills and project display competition at the annual Tech Challenge in Green Bay on April 8.

This event, hosted by Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, showcases high school student skills in areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Winning the Star First (highest level) award and NWTC scholarship was Jordan Pankow, with his Machine Tool display of a twin-cylinder model steam engine.

Gold Medal winners: Cheyenne Beechy (Welding) and Chad Sager (Machine Tool).

Silver Medalists: Matt Bianco (Machine Tool), Jon Hensel, Wyatt Osman, Trevor Spruce, Ethan Wood and Jacob Young (Welding).

Bronze Medalists: Jared Colden, Nicholas Pinch, Hunter Swinton (Parametric Modeling) and Dustin Handschke (Welding).

Bob Oudenhoven is a tech ed teacher at New London High School.
