Crash on U.S. 10

Two people were injured in a crash shortly before 2 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 10 in Waupaca.

Waupaca police reported that a westbound semi-trailer struck a Waupaca County highway vehicle that was parked on the right lane near the intersection of U.S. 10 and State Highway 22.

The county vehicle had emergency lights and an arrow activated to warn motorists that they needed to merge into the left lane. A lone highway worker was in the county truck, placing signs to advise motorists of a lane closure up ahead.

Both the county worker and the truck driver were transported to the Waupaca hospital after sustaining injuries that were not life threatening.

Police noted that the county truck was equipped with an impact attenuator, which cushioned the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
