WIAA softball tourney starts May 24

No. 7 Iola-Scandy to host No. 10 Manawa

The road to state for area high school softball teams gets underway Tuesday, May 24, with WIAA regional competition in four divisions.
Division 2, 3 and 4 will open tournament play that day, while first-round games in Division 1 are set forWednesday, May 25.
Here’s a rundown for area teams:
Division 1
Hortonville is seeded second in the Bay Port Sectional and have a bye in the first round. The Polar Bears will host No. 7 Appleton East or No. 10 Menasha Friday, May 27, in a regional final. The sectional final is set for 4:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Bay Port High School in Howard.
Division 2
New London is a No. 1 seed in the Little Chute Sectional and will host No. 9 Xavier or No. 8 Wautoma at4:30 p.m. May 25. Waupaca is a No. 11 seed in the same bracket and will travel to Appleton May 24 to face No. 6 Fox Valley Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. Clintonville is a No. 14 seed and will play at third-seeded Marinette at 4:30 p.m. May 24. The sectional final is scheduled for 4 p.m. June 2 at Little Chute High School.
Division 3
Weyauwega-Fremont is a No. 34 seed in the Pacelli Sectional and will host No. 11 St. Mary Catholic or No. 6 Westfield May 25. No. 7 Iola-Scandinavia will host No. 10 Manawa at 4:30 p.m. May 24, while No. 9 Amherst will play at No. 8 Markesan at  4:30 p.m. May 24. Pacelli will host the sectional final at 4:30 p.m. June 2 in Stevens Point.
Division 4
Fifth-seeded Marion, No. 7 Wild Rose and No. 8 Almond-Bancroft are in the New Holstein Sectional. Marion will host No. 12 Green Bay NEW Lutheran, Wild Rose will host No. 10 Stockbridge/Hilbert and Almond-Bancroft will host No. 9 Sheboygan Area Lutheran. All three games will start at 4:30 p.m. May 24. The sectional final will be held at 5 p.m. June 2 in New Holstein.
Madison’s Goodman Diamond will host the state competition Thursday to Saturday, June 9-11.
