Two fires in Caledonia

New London Fire Dept. has busy weekend

New London Fire Department responded to two fire calls in which property were destroyed over the weekend in the town of Caledonia.

Early evening Friday, May 27, a small shed was destroyed by flames at N1498 County Highway HH. Don Conat, New London fire captain, said a person had mowed the lawn and put the mower in the shed. Shortly afterward the fire was discovered.

There were no injuries, Conat said. Three New London fire trucks were on scene for under an hour.

On Saturday, May 28, after 12:30 p.m., New London Fire Department responded to a car fire at the intersection of Cut-Off Road and Barber Lane.

Conat said the fire is believed to have originated in the car’s engine. The vehicle was destroyed and there were no injuries. Firefighters were on scene for under an hour.
