Eugene D. Freiberg, 82, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.
He was born on June 10, 1934 in Fond du Lac, a son of Emmet L. and Gertrude Cleveland Freiberg. Eugene was a graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School, Class of 1952. Eugene served with the United States Army. On June 5, 1969, he married Ruth L. Martin. Eugene was a salesman for Art Freiberg and Bob Jackson, and later opened Freiberg Real Estate. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge #57 and Eagles Aerie #270. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, reading the newspaper, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Michael (Traci) Freiberg of Fond du Lac; two grandchildren: Emily and Paige; two brothers: William (Joann) Freiberg of Oshkosh and Roger Freiberg of Fond du Lac; two sisters; Doris Werner of Brooklyn, Michigan and Jane Smet of Rosholt; a brother-in-law, Elmer Fox of Fond du Lac; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Ruth Fox and Myrtle Trott; and a brother-in-law, James Smet.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Guse officiating. Inurnment will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.
