Maurice R. Snell

Maurice SNELLMaurice Robert Snell, age 87 of Saxeville, rural Wild Rose, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, July 16, 2016 at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born December 28, 1928 in Wisconsin, the son of Chester and Lois Beck Snell. He married Hattie Elizabeth Anderson on June 3, 1950 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saxeville. Hattie, Maurice’s wife of 66 years survives. Maurice was employed at Rockwell International in Oshkosh as a machinist and tool and die maker until he retired at age 65. During his time at Rockwell, Maurice was involved in the manufacture of the heat protecting tiles for the space shuttle.

He was a faithful, active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Saxeville. Both he and his wife, Hattie were heavily involved in the Church and in Luther League. He and Hattie were also very active with the Saxeville Union Cemetery Association. Maurice had been a member of the Pine River Masonic Lodge. He and Hattie were “snow birds” for a number of years, spending the summer months in Saxeville and wintering in Ruskin, Florida, near Tampa.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Hattie; four sisters, Irene Lippert, June (Ken) LaSure, and Mary Grambsch, all of Poy Sippi, and Shirley (Dennis) Erickson of Scandinavia; 2 sisters-in- law, Lila Dorn of Saxeville and Elizabeth Shultis of Plover. Maurice is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Frances Doll.

Funeral Services for Maurice Snell will be held Saturday, July 23rd. at 10:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church located at W4570 County Road A in Saxeville. The Rev. Rick Egen will officiate. Following these Services, Maurice will be laid to rest on the family plot in the Saxeville Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saxeville from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Saturday Only, one hour prior to the time of Services. There will also be a time of fellowship and sharing memories at a lunch served in the church hall following the Cemetery Services. A Memorial has been established for St. John’s Lutheran Church, Saxeville in Maurice’s memory.

The Ruminski Funeral Home of Redgranite is assisting the Snell family with arrangements.
