US 45 construction starts Aug. 22

Three-day closure, detour scheduled

Construction on U.S. Highway 45 between County Trunk W and County D is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 22.

Crews plan to close U.S. 45 between State Highway 96 in Fremont and Manske Road in New London at 6 a.m. on Aug. 22 to replace a culvert pipe.

During the closure, northbound U.S. 45 traffic will be detoured 10.1 miles east on State 96, 1.9 miles north on State 76, and 11 miles west on State 15.  Southbound traffic will be detoured in the reverse direction along the same route.  See detour map.

U.S. 45 is scheduled to reopen before 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25.

MCC Inc. is the prime contractor for the $750,000 project. Crews will resurface the roadway to provide a smoother driving surface.

Motorists can also expect to encounter daytime single lane closures and flagging operations during construction.

All work is scheduled for completion in mid-September 2016.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds. The remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
