Library exhibit promotes health

Interactive displays, yoga, pilates

Staying and being healthy is important — whether someone is 1 or 100.

However, thinking about the various aspects of one’s health, from dental and mental health to baby care and nutrition, may be overwhelming.

The Waupaca Area Public Library’s current exhibit, titled “Healthy You,” helps residents with just that.

It offers visitors tips and tools to be healthy in Waupaca.

The exhibit, which runs now through Saturday, Sept. 17, gives visitors a chance to learn new ideas for taking care of their health through information, photographs and interactive displays.

The exhibit partners with Ministry Dental, ThedaCare, WIC, Waupaca Area Baby Talk, the city of Waupaca Parks and Recreation Department and Senior Center, Waupaca County-UW Extension, Hartman Creek State Park and the Waupaca Farmers Market.

The exhibit also provides a variety of information for health resources throughout the area.

The library will also present “Yoga and Pilates: the Difference and Benefits of the Two Complimentary Disciplines” with local instructor Janet Heiner at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8.

Heiner, owner of Fit Alternatives in Waupaca, will teach the basics of yoga and pilates and provide information on the benefits of both disciplines.

The program will take place in the lower-level meeting rooms.

For more information about the program, visit the library exhibit room’s website at www.waupacalibrary.org/exhibit-room.
