Chamber holds Scarecrow Contest

11th annual event runs Oct. 17-31 in Waupaca

The Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 11th annual Scarecrow Contest.

Participating businesses will have create and display their own scarecrows. Their customers are encouraged to vote for their favorite scarecrow by dropping cash donations into a pail secured to the scarecrow’s frame.

One cent equals one vote. The scarecrow that raises the most money will be the winner.

The business that wins the Scarecrow Contest will receive a $400 advertising package compliments of the Waupaca County Post, Waupaca Buyer’s Guide, Muzzy Broadcasting and the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce.

Last year’s winner was Park Vista Retirement Living.

The cost to participate is a $30 refundable deposit on a scarecrow frame and a $25 gift certificate for merchandise or services from the participating business.

The deadline for registration is Sept. 16. Frames will be available Oct. 6-14. Scarecrows must be displayed Oct. 17-31.

The public can enter a drawing for the gift certificate prize packages. No purchase is required. Drawing slips and collection pails will be placed in each participating business and the chamber office. The winners will be contacted by phone on Nov. 3.
