WHS cast announced

Rehearsals for Waupaca High School’s upcoming production of the musical “Bye Bye Birdie” are underway.

The show dates are 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov, 3; 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4; 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6., in the high school’s Performing Arts Center.

The production, which was last performed at WHS in 2000 when the new high school opened, is a classic musical comedy written by Michael Stewart, with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Lee Adams.

The students cast in lead roles for “Bye Bye Birdie” are Isaac Wright as Albert Peterson, Jane Ryder as Rosie Alvarez, Nate Schuler-Jones and Cole Glass double cast as Conrad Birdie, Kiersten Block as Kim MacAfee, Dakota Marlega as Mrs. Mae Peterson, Christian Bump as Mr. Harry MacAfee, Grace Koch as Mrs. Doris MacAfee, Simon Baumgart as Hugo Peabody, Sam Abrahamson as Randolph MacAfee and Elle Miller as Ursula Merkle.

The Concert Choir singers are all involved and working to prepare the show, which is under the direction of Kathy Alan and Monica Reeves.

Each student of the choir has a role to play, whether that is on the stage or with the technical crew.

Two separate stage tech classes are currently building the set under the guidance of Dave Larson, and the Art Club and Rachel Akey will be putting the final touches on the set with their painting and creative artwork.

All of them are are excited to present another musical to the students, staff and community of Waupaca.

Tickets go on sale in mid October.
