Hubert William Tapio, age 89, of New London, passed away on October 10, 2016 at ThedaCare New London.
Tap was born on July 11, 1927 to the late William and Katherine (Larsen) Tapio in Painesdale, MI. He was united in marriage to Marian Wagner on July 16, 1955 in New London. Tap was raised in Hancock, Michigan and attended school there. He was a Great Lakes sailor. Tap also worked as an electric power lineman, utility worker and industrial electrician. He was a member of Local 577 IBEW. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, baking pasties, making canes and ice fishing.
Hubert is survived by his wife; two sons, Bryant (Sandra) Tapio, New London and Clint (Jeff Syvrud) Tapio, New London; brother-in-law, Roger Wagner, Hortonville; sister-in-law, Louise Hennick, Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Jason (Tia) Tapio, Kaukauna; Nathan (Chilwin Tanabal) Tapio, Appleton; Jen Tapio (Ryan Wittig), New London and Khrys (Jim) Riley, Wisconsin Rapids and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray; mother-in-law; father-in-law; step-father-in-law and brothers-in-law.
A funeral service for Hubert will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London. Rev. William Heiges will be officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London.
