Schmidt, Paul A.

paul-schmidtPaul Arthur Schmidt, age 56, of Waupaca, formerly of New London, has fallen asleep in the arms of Jesus to awake to eternal life on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, with his wife by his side.

Paul was born in Appleton on April 27, 1960 to the late Oscar and Mary (Boening) Schmidt. He was united in marriage to Tammy Dewhurst on July 18, 2014 at their residence. Paul owned and operated Hortonia’s West Side Auto and Truck Repair for 22 years. He also worked at Sturm Foods for a number of years until his cancer disabled him. Paul loved his children and grandchildren, working on cars (his passion was Ford Mustangs), being outside excavating, gardening, hunting and fishing. He was always helping people and would do anything for anybody.

Paul will be missed by many and is survived by his wife, Tammy; his sons, Sam (Kristin) Schmidt, Stevens Point; Mitch Schmidt, his children, Brya and Colter, Readfield; daughter, Phyllisa (Chris) Schmidt and her daughter Ava, Neenah; step-daughter, Sarah (Kris) Gorges, and her son Breckyn, Manawa; nine siblings: Mike, Jack (Vicky), Cliff (Tammie), all of New London; Sue (Dave) Dale; Patti (Dave), Black Creek; Linda, Kay (Lee), both of New London; Geri (Myron), Manawa; Cindy, Milwaukee; brother-in-law, Scott (Sherry) Hulett, Marion; sisters-in-law, Linda (Dave) Rockey, Clintonville; Mikki Hulett, Marion; Lisa Robenhagen (Rob Briske), Marion and Kim Hulett, Clintonville and the mother of his children, Suzy Schmidt. He is further survived by many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral mass for Paul will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. and also at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
