Regional tournament play begins Oct. 18

WIAA state tournament play begins Tuesday, Oct. 18, for several area volleyball teams.
Division 2, 3 and 4 teams will play their first-round regional quarterfinal matches Oct. 18, while Division 1 teams will begin Thursday, Oct. 20, with regional semifinals.
Here’s a rundown of where area teams will play their opening matches:
Division 1
Hortonville is a No. 2 seed in the Kimberly Sectional. The Polar Bears will host No. 15 Green Bay East Oct. 20.
Division 2
Waupaca, Clintonville and New London are in the Seymour Sectional and will be on the road for the first round Oct. 18. No. 7 will head to No. 2 Xavier in Appleton, No. 6 Clintonville will face No. 3 Seymour and No. 5 New London will travel to Appleton to take on No. 4 Fox Valley Lutheran.
Division 3
Third-seeded Weyauwega-Fremont, No. 5 Amherst, No. 6 Manawa and No. 8 Iola-Scandinavia are in the Auburndale Sectional. Weyauwega-Fremont will host Manawa, Amherst will play at St. Mary Catholic in Menasha and Iola-Scandinavia will travel to Wittenberg-Birnamwood to take on the top-seeded Chargers.
Division 4
No. 2 Wild Rose, No. 5 Marion and No. 6 Almond-Bancroft are in the Stevens Point Sectional. Wild Rose will host No. 7 Port Edwards, Marion will travel to Wisconsin Rapids to face Assumption and No. 3 Tigerton will host Almond-Bancroft.
All matches begin at 7 p.m.
