Nielson, Henry R. (Hank)

Henry R. Nielson (Hank), age 88, of Waupaca, Wis. passed away peacefully Friday, December 23, 2016.

He was born June 28, 1928 in Waupaca, Wis., the son of Henry Sr. and Lydia Nielson. He married Theresa (Terri) Polman on April 14, 1950 in Waukun, Iowa, and was a loving husband for 66 years. Henry was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy as an Aviation Mechanic from 1945 through 1948. He started his career as a game warden for the State of Wisconsin prior to moving into Fish Management at the Madison and St. Croix, Wisconsin Fish Hatcheries. Henry was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and several trips to Canada with family and friends. He had a love of auctions and collecting which he passed on to his family. He was a wonderful and joyful man who shared his love and knowledge freely.

He is survived by his loving wife Terri; his children, LeaAnn Teasdale (John), and Randall (Crystal); his grandchildren, Jennifer Teasdale, Jeremy Teasdale (Stephanie), and Andrew Nielson; and great-grandson Ethan Teasdale. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Gordon Nielson (Marian) and sister Myra Magdanz (Robert); and his eldest son Dennis Nielson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday January 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Chaplain Terry Reiser will officiate. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations should be sent to the Salvation Army.
