Russell Lee Johnson, Sr. of Weyauwega, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at age 83.
He was born in Racine, WI on July 19, 1933, the son of the late Charles and Virginia Johnson, née Renpaul. Russ worked as a printer and teacher, and later worked for Kimberly-Clark as a research engineer and patent agent. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and putting his own unique spin on the nightly news.
Russ is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his daughter, Julie; his son, Rusty and wife, Carrie; a son-in-law, Jim; two granddaughters, Rose and Brenna; his brothers, James and Allen and Allen’s wife Carol, and a sister, Joan; along with other nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Chris.
A gathering of remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from noon until 2 p.m., at Hahn-a-lula Resort, 8861 S. Wolf River Road, Fremont. The Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Beloit College, Development and Alumni Relations, 700 College Street, Beloit, WI 53511.
