Torgerson, Forrest

Forrest E. Torgerson, age 91, of Iola, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on August 21, 1925 in Iola, son of the late Norman and Elva (Toebass) Torgerson. Forrest graduated from Iola High School in 1943 and served in the US Navy during World War II. He graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD in 1950 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He was employed as an accountant, where he met his wife-to-be Virginia Frank. She was a German farm girl from a wonderful German family in Marshfield, Wisconsin. They were married on November 13, 1954 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Forrest always felt he was especially blessed with Virginia as his wife. They were blessed with one son, Steve Torgerson of Appleton and one daughter, Nancy (Torgerson) Graf of Menomonee Falls. They also enjoyed one granddaughter, Karina Graf, daughter of Nancy and Dale Graf all by whom he is survived.

In 1958, Forrest and Virginia moved to Navarino, Wisconsin where Forrest owned and operated the Navarino Feed & Supply Co. for 22 years. He sold his business in 1980. He served the local farmers with feed, seed and fertilizer. He always said they were the best years of his life. It was such a pleasure doing business with the local farmers. They were his personal friends. Virginia and Forrest moved back to Iola in 2003, his old hometown, where he enjoyed many of the old friends he grew up with.

Funeral Service will be held 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Iola, Wisconsin with Rev. Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in the Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery Town of Scandinavia, Wisconsin.
