Touring a cappella group to visit Waupaca
The Cat’s Pajamas will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Waupaca Middle School as part of its 10th annual Music in Schools Tour.
Based out of Branson, Missouri, the a cappella group’s tour brings student choral clinics, school assemblies and evening shows to communities throughout the country in an effort to raise money for school music programs.
To date, The Cat’s Pajamas has raised more than $100,000 for music education.
Ticket prices for the March 9 concert will be $10 for adults and $5 for students, with no charge for children ages 3 and under.
People may purchase tickets by calling the middle school at 715-258-4140, Ext. 7500 or 7502. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
The vocal band’s goal is to inspire students, generate increased excitement and passion for music and encourage youth and teens to get involved in the arts.
When the group visits WMS, it will teach and mentor students during the school day.
It will focus on singing techniques, as well as on sharing their personal journeys and testimonies about how they turned their love of music into professional careers.
Then, The Cat’s Pajamas will put on a show for the entire community in the evening and donate a portion of those profits directly to Waupaca Middle School’s music program.
The Cat’s Pajamas recently received national acclaim on season three of the NBC show “The Sing-Off.”
When the group is not performing in Branson or Atlantic City, The Cat’s Pajamas is in the Caribbean as guest entertainers with Norwegian, Holland America, Royal Caribbean and Disney Cruise Lines.
The group performs pop classics from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, including songs from The Temptations, Queen, Grand Funk Railroad and Jackson Five.
The songs of contemporary artists like Maroon 5, Pitbull, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars are also featured in the show, performed in the group’s innovative and funk-infused a cappella style.
The Cat’s Pajamas is an interactive group that appeals to people of all ages and is known for keeping crowds laughing, dancing and singing along for the entire show.
