Seniors guide Clintonville to victory

Truckers to face Little Chute again

The seventh-seeded Truckers relied on their seniors in a 76-45 home victory over No. 10 seed Northland Pines in the WIAA Division III regional quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Tyler Petermann and Nathan Krueger combined to score 49 points and both had double-doubles in the win.

Petermann finished with a game-high 26 points on 12 of 20 shooting from the floor with 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals. He also became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,345 career points.

Krueger added 23 points on 9 of 16 shooting with 15 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

The Truckers held a 33-24 halftime lead before dominating the second half for a 31-point victory.

Cameron Wait led Northland Pines with 21 points in the loss.

Clintonville came into the game losing nine of its last 10 games and lost five straight prior to the tournament victory.

What’s next?

The Truckers will advance to the regional semifinals to play against second-seeded North Eastern Conference opponent Little Chute, who earned a bye to the semifinals, on the road Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m.

Clintonville and Little Chute played each other twice this season, and the Mustangs won both games. Little Chute beat Clintonville 58-47 at home on Jan. 5 and won 65-50 on Friday, Feb. 10 in Clintonville.

With a win, the Truckers would advance to the regional final to play either No. 3 seed Peshtigo or No. 6 seed Oconto on Saturday, March 4.
