Students prepare for ‘Lion King’

Waupaca Middle School to present musical

Eighty Waupaca Middle School students are preparing to perform “The Lion King Jr.”

The musical will be staged at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 3, Thursday, April 6, and Friday, April 7, in the Gerald C. Knoepfel Auditorium at the middle school.

All seats are reserved and can be purchased for $5 each in advance or at the door. The ticket hotline is 715-467-2706 for advanced sales.

Students in sixth through eighth grades will present the Broadway Jr. version of “The Lion King” through Music Theater International and The Disney Corporation.

The musical is directed and produced by Laurel Leder, Shana Rogney and Lori Jungers, with choreography under the direction of Molly Doray. Additional help with students come from Jenny Lewis, Steve Wilson and Anna Kirk.

“The Lion King was chosen this year as the middle school musical because of the new light and sound equipment installed in the auditorium this past summer,” according to Leder. “This Broadway show lends itself very well to letting the public see how awesome our facilities have been transformed.”
